1926 - A group of independent grocers, under the leadership of Frank Grimes, founded Independent Grocers Alliance (IGA)
          in Poughkeepsie, NY.  It was the first voluntary chain of independent grocers.
1927 - IGA grew to over 150 stores.
1929 - IGA stores were located from the Atlantic to the Mississippi.
1930 - After only 4 years in existence, IGA has over 8,000 independent grocery stores in its association with locations through
          out the country.
1968 - The company restructured and became a not-for-profit corporation and changed its name to IGA, Inc.
1988 - IGA expanded into Japan and Australia.
2001 - IGA celebrates its 75th anniversary with over 4,000 member-owned stores in 48 states and 45 other countries on all
          6 inhabited continents.  IGA is the world's largest voluntary supermarket.
