U-SAVE SUPERMARKETS

1923 - Charles Bever and his wife Charlotte founded B & B Cash Grocery in Avon Park, FL.
1930's - The company grew with the opening of smaller grocery stores in the area.
1940's - The company began opening larger grocery stores.
1950's - B & B launched its lower priced U-Save Supermarkets format and began converting many of the chains existing
B & B Cash Grocery stores to the U-Save Supermarkets name and format.
2002 - Concentrating more on commercial real estate than supermarkets, the company operates 11 U-Save Supermarkets
and 26 Handy Neighborhood Stores in the Tampa, Florida area.

1937 - Joe Ukrop founded Ukrop's in Richmond, VA.
2008 - Ukrop's operates 29 stores in the Richmond, VA area,

United Grocers is a member-owned wholesaler servicing independent grocers in CA, WA, OR, HI and AK.
Store banners include: Brown & Cole, Market Place, Cost Cutter and Thriftway.
2007 - Unified Grocers acquired Associated Grocers of Seattle.

1955 - United Markets is founded in Marin, CA.
2008 - United Markets operates 2 supermarkets in California.

UNITED SUPERMARKETS (Texas)
Market Street ~ Amigos United

1916 - H.D. Snell opened his first United Cash Store in Sayre, OK.
2008 - United Supermarkets operates 72 stores under the United Supermarkets, Market Street and Amigos United banners in
Oklahoma and Texas. The company then agreed to sell 26 stores to Homeland Stores.

URM STORES

U.R.M. Stores (formerly United Retail Merchants) of Spokane, WA is a retailers cooperative serving independent supermarkets in ID, MT, OR, and WA. It was founded in 1921 and is a member of Retailer Owned Food Distributors & Associates. It is an owner of Western Family Foods. It purchased Rosauers Supermarket in 2000.It's affiliated supermarkets include Family Foods, Harvest Foods, Rosauers, Yoke's Fresh Market and Super 1 Foods.

1949 - Comber & Fox was founded in Fenton, MI.
1961 - The company opened a second store in Clio, MI.
1976 - Comber & Fox began using its V.G. banner with its enlarged store in Clio, MI.
1977 - A new V.G. was opened in Genesee, MI.
1980 - The company opened a store in Davison, MI.
1983 - V.G. opened a store in Howell, MI.
1988 - A new V.G. opened in Owosso, MI.
1990 - The company opened new stores in Brighton and Burton, MI.
1992 - V.G. opened new stores in New Baltimore and Marine City, MI.
1995 - New V.G. stores were opened in Pontiac and Waterford, MI.
1997 - The company opened a new store in Sterling Heights, MI.
2000 - V.G. opened a new store in Caro, MI.
2006 - A new V.G. store opened in West Flint, MI.
2007 - New stores were opened in North Fenton and Shelby Township, MI.
2008 - V.G. operates 17 supermarkets in Michigan.
