1955 - Bi-Mart was founded in Yakima,
WA. 1962 - The company opened a 2nd store. 1976 - Bi-Mart was acquired by Pay 'n Save. 1984 - Thrifty PayLess acquired Bi-Mart & Pay 'n Save. 1985 - Kmart acquired Thrifty PayLess. 1996 - Rite Aid acquired Thrifty PayLess from Kmart. 1997 - Bi-Mart's senior management acquired Bi-Mart from Kmart. 2003 - The company expanded into Montana and Idaho. 2004 - The company becomes employee-owned. 2006 - Bi-Mart exited the Montana market.

- Fed Mart was founded in San Diego by Sol Price as a membership
shopping club forgovernment employees. 1975 - With 45 stores, the Price family sold Fed Mart to German retailer Hugo Mann. 1977 - Fed Mart acquired Two Guys west coast supermarkets. 1983 - Fed Mart closed and was liquidated. |
